Jonathan grew up in Lexington, Virginia. After finishing his law degree at Washington & Lee University School of Law, Jonathan worked as a Contract Negotiations Specialist and as a Financial Planner for a Fortune 500 company before starting Tarris Law in 2016.

Since starting Tarris Law, Jonathan has litigated thousands of matters throughout Virginia from fatal trucking accidents to farm partitions among dozens of heirs.  and has successfully appealed trial court rulings, even garnishing published opinions in the Virginia Court of Appeals.

Many times Jonathan is able to avoid litigation altogether with proper planning and negotiations. He has formed hundreds of trusts, LLCs and other business entities, providing them with the proper legal paperwork to avoid disputes among all stakeholders. For clients who did not have the proper paperwork and planning in place before contacting Tarris Law he has achieved successful settlements to avoid unnecessary and costly litigation in cases ranging from complex estates and divorces to  personal injuries and contract disputes. In his spare time Jonathan enjoys spending time outdoors on family outings, doing home improvement projects and volunteering on a variety of community boards and commissions.

Kacie Daniel is the Case Manager at our firm, where she helps ensure that daily operations run smoothly and clients receive attentive and professional service. She brings a strong background in criminal justice along with hands-on experience in both court and private practice settings.

Kacie earned her Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Louisiana State University. She has also gained valuable insight through positions with both the general district court here in Virginia and as well as in Louisiana.

Known for her organization, reliability, and friendly demeanor, Kacie combines strong technical skills with excellent communication and client service. She plays a key role in supporting the attorneys and creating a welcoming, efficient office environment for clients and staff alike. 

Outside of her professional life, Kacie enjoys traveling and exploring new places, which allows her to broaden her perspective and embrace new experiences.

Carlin Bumgarner is a Legal Assistant at our firm and is often one of the first welcoming points of contact for clients. Known for her calm, approachable demeanor, she is committed to helping clients feel heard, informed, and supported throughout the legal process.

Carlin holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from James Madison University and is currently completing her Associate of Applied Sciences in Paralegal Studies. She assists with legal research, document preparation, case organization, and scheduling, helping matters move forward efficiently and with attention to detail 

Her professionalism is shaped by years of leadership and service. At JMU, Carlin held multiple elected student government positions, including Student Body Vice President and Speaker of the Student Senate, where she led large groups, managed budgets, and facilitated thoughtful decision-making. 

She is also a competitive equestrian and active member of national equestrian organizations—experience that reflects discipline, focus, and composure under pressure. Together, these qualities inform the steady, client-centered approach she brings to her work each day.
