Our Firm

Jonathan grew up in Lexington, Virginia. After finishing his law degree at Washington & Lee University School of Law he worked as a Contract Negotiations Specialist and as a Financial Planner for a Fortune 500 company before starting Tarris Law in 2016.

Since starting Tarris Law, Jonathan has litigated thousands of matters throughout Virginia from fatal trucking accidents to farm partitions among dozens of heirs. Jonathan has never lost a Jury trial and has successfully appealled trial court rulings, even garnishing published opinions in the Virginia Court of Appeals.

Many times Jonathan is able to avoid litigation altogether with proper planning and negotiations. He has formed dozens of trusts, LLCs and other business entities, providing them with the proper legal paperwork to avoid disputes among all stakeholders. Duncan grew up in St. Louis, Missouri before relocating to Chesapeake, Virginia. In 2017 he moved to Lynchburg to finish his education and since 2018 he has served as an Infantryman in the Virginia Army National Guard while completing his eduction at Liberty University. 

Since joining the firm Duncan has taken on cases involving land disputes and regulatory compliance.

Duncan enjoys spending time outdoors with family, working through his ever-growing reading list, and volunteering with several veteran’s outreach groups in the Lynchburg area.

Maura grew up in Rockbridge County and comes to Tarris Law with a background in business management and operations, working for some of the areas biggest companies. 

Since joining the firm Maura has completed advanced training to become a Certified Settlement Agent with the Virginia Land and Title Association and assists our clients with handling all aspects of their real estate and business transactions.

In her free time Maura enjoys kayaking our local rivers, traveling & listening to live music.

Emily started out interning at Tarris Law after her 1st year of law school. She excelled in a in that role and now assists the firm in handling a range of matters including trust management, tax compliance and family planning as she finishes her law degree. When her nose isn't in the books Emily enjoys traveling, live music and spending time with her dog Carson.
